In September 1994, a reputable aviation journal published a report on what has become known as the Boscombe Down incident. It is alleged that near the Royal Air Force’s Boscombe Down airbase in Hampshire, England, a highly classified U.S. spy plane crashed under the cover of darkness. Both nations denied the report, but the British Special Air Service was reportedly seen cordoning off the wreckage and covering it with a tarp. An American cargo plane soon appeared to fly the mystery craft back to U.S. soil.
