The DEVASTATING Effects of Chernobyl...

These next images are of a former kindergarten in Kopachi village, located four kilometres south of the Chernobyl Power Plant in Ukraine. We all know the story of Chernobyl when in 1986, a routine safety test went horribly wrong, causing one of the four nuclear reactors to overheat and explode, spewing radioactive material into the air. The incident was the worst disaster in the history of nuclear power, and the fallout's effects are still felt today. The Kindergarten and all the residents of Kopachi village were evacuated, never to return and over time all the houses and other buildings in Kopachi have been demolished, but the Kindergarten remains along with its frozen in time contents and 35 years after the children left these haunting photos were captured.
