In mid-summer 1972, 58-year-old Hilda McAfee and her mother encountered a blinding blue light while driving on I-10 near Deming, New Mexico. They observed two stocky figures in pale blue quilted coveralls and motorcycle-style helmets standing beneath a truck-sized hovering object. The beings moved rigidly and seemed unconcerned by the approaching car. After swerving around them, the women looked back to find everything had vanished. Both later suffered intense burning pain in their chests and arms. They kept silent until 1975, when they learned of the Travis Walton case through a family connection. Investigator Patti Morris found their testimony compelling, noting similar UFO encounters reported in the same region years later.
