Rome in 90 AD. The Circus Maximus is the largest arena of the ancient world, and every race on its track could be a charioteer's last. Scorpus has made it to Rome, but only a few of the hundreds of young talents ever get to race here. Behind the spectacle stands a powerful industry. Four rival stables, the Blues, the Greens, the Reds and the Whites, control the horses, the drivers and the money, and they even dare to put pressure on Emperor Domitian himself. On the track, there is no fair play. Charioteers drive four horses at full speed, fight for the inside line and risk everything at the deadly turning posts. Off the track, fans turn to violence and black magic. Archaeologists excavate the circus of Carthage and decode lead curse tablets aimed at rival teams. How dangerous was chariot racing in ancient Rome? What was the price of fame in the Circus Maximus? And how far would rivals go to stop a champion?

Part 2 of The Greatest Race.
