Same Name, Different Life...

This is the unkempt grave of George Washington, although not the George Washington who was the founding father and first U.S president. This George Washington is known for a totally different reason. When the Texas prison system plugged in its new electric chair in 1924, this George Washington was one of the first to be executed. In 1923 George shot Levi Todd, as he sat playing poker in a row over some timber, he also shot his wife although she survived. When the shooting subsided, George ran into the woods, but was apprehended a few days later when he was found sleeping in a bush. On February 9, 1924, at the age of 39, George along with four other criminals were strapped into the chair and killed…This was and still is a state record for the highest number of executions in a single day. If it wasn't for his name he would be long forgotten like the other four are.
