Does This Photo Explain What Happened to Hikers in The Mountains?

On January 27th 1959, ten Russian students led by Igor Dyatlov, set out on a trek into the Ural Mountains. The next day one of the hikers turned back with an injury. The remaining nine continued without him. When the group did not return on the date expected a search was conducted. The frozen bodies of all nine students were found with inexplicable injuries, their tents were slashed, one of the hikers her eyes gouged out and tongue removed.

Over the years what happened to them has spawned dozens of conspiracy theories, and with the help of the group's diaries, photographs and letters, many have tried to unravel what happened to them. Is this image the Key?


Some claim the photograph, taken by one of the hikers the day before they died, is of a Russian Yeti, an ape-like creature that towers above the average human. Could it be possible that a creature only thought to exist in folklore was responsible for the decades old mystery?
