Deep beneath Africa, something enormous may already be happening. Scientists studying strange signals under Zambia and the East African Rift believe the continent could be entering the early stages of splitting apart. What began millions of years ago with the breakup of Pangea may now be happening again in real time. Researchers discovered thinning crust, deep mantle gases, and signs that a completely new tectonic boundary could be forming underground.
