What if the streetlight outside your home is becoming more than a source of illumination? Smart-city infrastructure is increasingly combining LED lighting, wireless connectivity, environmental sensors, cameras, traffic monitoring, and networked systems. As research into 6G develops, the vision becomes even more connected, with massive sensor networks and intelligent infrastructure potentially communicating continuously. Could future streetlights become network nodes capable of sensing the environment around you? What information could they collect? Who owns that data, and who has access to it? Blue-rich LED lighting raises another uncomfortable question because it can affect human circadian rhythms and biological processes depending on intensity, timing, and exposure. But does any of this mean streetlights are secretly monitoring or controlling people? There is no evidence establishing such a system. The darker question is what becomes technically possible as cities become increasingly instrumented. When the infrastructure around you can see, sense, communicate, and collect data, where does public convenience end and permanent surveillance begin? We examine 6G concepts, smart sensors, LED technology, connected cities, and the theories surrounding them without telling you what is true and what is not.
