Jurors weren’t able to reach a unanimous decision in the trial of Lindsay Clancy, the Massachusetts mother who admitted to killing all three of her children before attempting to do the same to herself, back in January of 2023. Lindsay’s defense was that she’d been in the midst of a postpartum psychotic episode brought on by a combination of insomnia, a slurry of prescriptions, and her medical providers’ failure to identify and treat an underlying bipolar disorder. The verdict came down to one juror against eleven others, and on Friday, September 4th, Massachusetts Judge William Sullivan officially declared a mistrial, despite seven days of jury deliberations. But even though the trial is over, it’s still in the news thanks to ongoing conspiracy theories about Patrick, jurors speaking out, and one news station’s investigation into the holdout juror’s past, which is now raising its own ethical issues.
