So, I just returned from a 10-day tour of Turkey, and amongst the sites I visited, of course it was no surprise that Göbekli Tepe, Karahan Tepe and Sayburc were my favourites.

We had a personal tour of Gobekli Tepe with field director Lee Clare, and we got to see firsthand the progress being made at both Karahan Tepe and Sayburc. For those that don’t know, these sites are 10-12,000 years old and whilst we were there visiting, new discoveries were being announced in the world’s media.

Firstly, geophysics has mapped new structures at Gobekli Tepe, whilst at Karahan Tepe, the first ever T-pillar with a human face was discovered. Our group got to see the new T-pillar in person and watched as the experts were surveying the land around Göbekli Tepe.

In this video, I'll explain the details of the discoveries and also what they mean with regards to our understanding of Pre-Pottery Neolithic history.
